Set Tear Down and Clean Up Day!

Dress Rehearsals: Dress rehearsals are full run throughs of the show in costume with lights and microphones. These are our longest rehearsals, and take a group effort to help them run smoothly and prepare us for the show. We’d like to start promptly at 6:30 pm. That means microphone checks at 6:00 pm for those who have mics. You must also be dressed in costume and have your props prepared. Our goal is to be finished with the dress rehearsals each night between 9:30 and 10:00 pm. The smoother our run through, the earlier our rehearsals will be finished. Thank you for your dedication!

Performances: Please arrive for each show at the scheduled time on the calendar and check in on the spreadsheet. You may do hair and makeup in the dressing room, or come prepared. We will do microphone checks one hour prior to the show beginning, and warm up in the choir room 30 minutes before the show starts. Please be dressed and ready BEFORE warmups.

Check In: Everyone must check in for each dress rehearsal and show. We expect everyone to be at all dress rehearsals and shows. If you will not be there, you must call a director. There will be a spreadsheet hanging in the make up room hallway for you to mark your presence. If you are not there or marked, we will be contacting you!

Children/Youth Dressing Room: During the show, kids can be in the band room when they are not on stage. Feel free to bring coloring books, puzzles, games, books, etc. We may also be able to play movies. For security reasons, we are asking that no children bring tablets or devices. We do not want anyone to lose valuables, and this is a great opportunity for kids to spend time together!

During the Show: No running around school or through the hallways. We want to be respectful of our facilities, and respectful to the audience members in our show. Quiet voices in the hallways during the show. Please do not go into the lobby before or during the show in costume (including intermission). We don’t want to ruin the surprise for our audiences.

Do not touch anyone else’s costumes or props if they are not yours!

Parking: Please park by door 9 if you are able to reserve choice parking for our audience members.

Food and Drink: We all love to snack during our shows, but please be mindful of your costumes! It’s best to stick to things that won’t stain. We also don’t want anyone drinking or eating anything that will dye their mouth or tongue strange colors.

Phones and Watches: No phones or watches on the black stage. Please also remove nail polish before the shows.

Make Up and Hair: For most ensemble characters, make up will be used to enhance and define your features on stage under the stage lights. We want to make sure we see your lips, cheeks, and eyebrows. Regular makeup like foundation, mascara, and eyeliner can be used for cast members as you see fit. A shade darker than your normal skin tone for foundation will help from bleaching you out in the stage lights.  Please bring your own hairbrush, combs and ponytail holders.

Tear Down (Strike): We will start tearing down the set on July 13th after our show for only 30 minutes. July 14th is our other main strike day. We will begin at 3:00 pm until finished. We need all hands on deck! We have to tear down our entire set, clean up all the dressing rooms, organize costumes, and clean the makeup room. There are jobs for all abilities on this day! Please bring a cordless power drill if you are able to help with the set.

Many hands make light work!

We are excited to show off all of the hard work we have put into this show.  We hope it opens the door to many future productions for you at Melrose Stages!

Any questions or concerns, please reach out!
